Day Two

Hi Everyone,
I don't know about you but I woke up filled with dreams, some meaningful others just enjoyable.... realizing how much I seem to recall my dreams when I am juicing. Also noticed while sitting around the campfire this morning that it is nice to have my hands busy while breakfast is happening... so I cracked lots of walnuts. Feels good to to see all those amazing nuts coming out for future use.... yesterday I dehydrated lots of thin slices of persimmons and they also look amazing. Am going to finish those today.
I am enjoying the feeling in my body of just being more IN my body. Also the clarity in my mind and the lessening of on going chatter! A peaceful mind is a great thing!
How are you. Use this blog to share, get support, or simply to connect with others who are also committed to taking on their health and well being as part of this year.

Love you all. Have a sweet day. Be kind to yourself.
Love, Terces

1 celery heart, 1 cucumber, 1 granny smith apple, 2 fennels. YUM!

This is my 2nd day and my first experience doing this kind of thing. I am a diabetic, so I can't drink real juice. I have been drinking green smoothies and smoothies made from almond milk. I am wondering if there are other diabetics participating and what they are drinking. I am testing my blood frequently - I have to watch for highs (too much fruit) and lows (due to medication).

My primary reason for doing this is health and well-being. It's also something new, which appealed to me. Yesterday I felt a lot more centered and slowed-down (good for me). I also lost some weight, which I expect to do throughout this ( also good for me).

Hi Libby,
Thanks for sharing. I would definitely stay with lots of green juice and you can add sprouts to any juice as well. I understand that you want to stay away from too much fruit and the corresponding fruit sugar! Wheatgrass is really good if you have a way of getting some. So proud of you for taking this on. I am sure others will share as well. Congratulations! love, Terces

Hi Terces!

I am so glad that I found you here. One of my friends happened to be starting a fast today because her church is doing it & I had already decided to join her. It is an interesting issue for me, though. I tend towards hypoglycemia & have worked hard the last few years to eat often enough to keep my blood sugar up. This has helped my energy & moods, but I still always feel like I'm starving, like my digestion is so bad that I'm not actually getting any benefit from the food. I was hoping that some sort of fasting/juicing would help strengthen my digestion, but I'm worried that I'm not strong enough for it. I really just want to eat things that make me feel nourished. I'm already craving things like dense whole grain bread & thick cream. I can't eat these things because of food allergies, but they seem to be the things my body needs. It's such a vicious cycle. How do I heal if I can't eat what my body wants??? Ha. So, the next two weeks is a conscious experiment to find out if something will change. I'm so happy to see everyone here. Hopefully, this can help keep me focused.

Thanks!
Kelly

Hi Kelly,
I am happy you found me here too! Let' see, first of all I don't think it is a good idea to "fast" so to speak, you want to keep your body nourished, it is just what is the nourishing part. What I am proposing is LOTS OF GREENS, mostly liquid, but if juicing for you has you feel undernourished then add some steamed greens or fresh salads. I think the cravings will go away once you are nourished by good "sunlight" and energy. Don't starve yourself, drink great healthy juice often. Nut milks may help with some added fat which is probably the cream craving... you may need some good fats. Take it slowly, and add some affirmations to nourish your mind as well.... I am proud of you for taking this on. Let me know how you are doing. Love Terces

I just made the "I am Thankful" Thai cocoanut soup from the Cafe Gratitude cookbook. I "lost" my Jalapeno pepper (forgot to take it out of the shopping cart when I was at the store) so I added cayenne instead. I omitted the date but used all the other broth ingredients. Since Terces said to order it "no veggies", I blended in some cilantro and cucumber (2 of the garnishes in the recipe). This was only the 2nd time I had opened a cocoanut.

The soup is absolutely delicious! Thank you for the suggestion, Terces.

Hi Libby,

You are so welcome.... great to blend the veggies... its just in the cafe ordering "no veggies"if you are truly sticking with all liquids... Thanks for sharing. Love, Terces

Hi there, I know I am late in joining this juicing club, but better late than never right? For anyone who is dealing with the sugar cravings with juicing and feeling the need to avoid fruit juices because of the sugar, I have found that using extra cucumbers along with the Kale, romaine, celery, bok choy or whatever other greens you use along with parsley and then just adding enough Alcohol Free Liquid stevia or the powder packets as well as a couple of lemons or limes is divine. I have been battling candida for the past year, employing juicing until dinners and colonics. The green juices have been my go to's and are my comfort food. I have recently been able to add a green apple to my juices and have had no ill effects. I hope this helps anyone and everyone who might be dealing with diabetes, candida, or any other yeast/bacteria issues. I am completely here as a support. Thank you for listening.
Also, carrot, romaine with a touch of cocoa powder and some stevia is like chocolate milk and carrot/romain/cucumber w/ pumpkin pie spice and ginger is like the Holidays in a glass!
